İğneada means Needle Island in English but it is not really an island, more of a peninsula jutting out on the Black Sea coast. It is a small town within the provice of Kırklareli, in an area of natural beauty with the surrounding forest countryside providing a natural habitat for a wide range of animals, birds and fish species.
The town is situated by a long sandy beach that gets popular in the summer months. There is not a lot to see or do in the town but it is worth a visit and is ideal as a stop over location or a base from which to explore the Longoz Forest National Park.
The locals are mainly involved in forestry, fishing or in tourism and the second of Turkey’s nuclear power plants is likely to be built at this location.
