Edremit is in the Balıkesir Province in the Aegean region of Turkey.It is an old Ottoman town and one of the largest towns in the province. The area around the town is covered with forests.
The local economy is influenced by the production of olives but the town is a mixture of old and new with many well known brands having outlets in the town.
The centre of Edremit has many local shops and old interesting buildings whereas the outer main highway features all the modern shopping facilities and new apartment blocks.
Edremit, Türkiye’nin Ege Bölgesi’nde, Balıkesir iline bağlı bir ilçedir. Eski bir Osmanlı kasabası olan Edremit, ilin en büyük yerleşim yerlerinden biridir. İlçenin çevresi ormanlarla kaplıdır.
Yerel ekonomi, büyük ölçüde zeytin üretiminden etkilenmektedir. Ancak ilçe, hem eski hem de yeni yapıların bir arada bulunduğu karışık bir yerleşim sunar. Birçok tanınmış marka, şehirde mağazalarını açmıştır.
Edremit’in merkezi, çok sayıda yerel dükkân ve eski, ilgi çekici binalar barındırırken; dış kesimlerdeki ana karayolu boyunca modern alışveriş imkânları ve yeni apartman blokları yer almaktadır.
