Ogretmen Evi locations around Turkey have special prices for teachers. These state run hotels or lodgings offer very good value for money and anyone can stay here. They offer a very good alternative to mainstream hotels.
The Ogretmen Evi at Bergama is located along the main highway into town. Up on a hill it commands a very prominent position with some good views over the city. There is ample parking and quiet streets nearby. Check in was simple enough and we paid 110 Turkish Lira ( £21.52 ) for a double room with breakfast included.
The room was comfortable and well laid out. With a TV and adequate heating and very clean the bathroom was very good with an excellent shower. There is a cafe on the ground floor which serves snacks and hot and cold drinks. There is also a restaurant which serves a basic set menu. However, at 8.00 Turkish Lira ( £1.56 each ) a head this represents unbelievable value for money and was more than adequate for our needs and quite filling.
The staff at the Ogretmen Evi really do make you feel at home. They are friendly and helpful and clearly take an interest in their clientele. Wifi is also provided at the hotel.
I would definitely recommend this establishment as a good place to stay for your visit to Bergama. We really liked the atmosphere and the way this place was run.
Clean, well run and very reasonably priced hotel.
You pretty much know what to expect when you book a room at a Sheraton hotel. This was no exception but for the fact that it was housed in a pretty deserted shopping mall. The nearby restaurants and coffee outlets did not seem very popular for some reason.
When you arrive you should park in the underground mall car park. Upon check out you will need to present your parking ticket which will then be credited with the parking costs to ensure that you get free parking. Check in was fast and efficient.
The staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms were comfortable and well maintained. They were clean with tea and coffee service, fridge and a decent TV. The bathroom was clean and to a reasonably good standard but the finish I thought was a little sub standard and tired for a Sheraton Hotel.
The breakfast was exceptionally good with a very good choice of hot and cold food available. This is a good place to stay and although you will need to drive or take a taxi to the centre it is not that far away. Would stay here again. A good choice for your stop over in Izmir.
The hotel is situated by a lake near the sea. There is a bird nature reserve nearby and a beach resort called Agapark nearby that charges a modest fee to gain access for the day.
Reception staff are friendly and efficient. Check in was a breeze and we were soon in our room. As you would expect from a Hampton Hilton the standard is excellent and the rooms were meticulously clean and well presented.
The usual coffee / tea facilities, fridge and TV etc were all provided and the breakfast was of an exceptionally good standard. Probably one of the best hotels in this area and good value for money. Parking and Wi-Fi
This is a very beautiful location and a great place to stay. The hotel has a swimming pool although it is right on the beach so you can take a swim in the sea every day and make use of the water sports.
The hotel is modern, comfortable and well organised. With easy access to Foca nearby there is plenty to do and see. The staff here are very friendly and they make their guests feel very welcome.
The breakfasts by the poolside are excellent with a wide choice of buffet style Turkish breakfast with a variety of cheeses, breads, fruit, jams, meats etc. Cannot fault it really. Would have no problems recommending this especially for families.
Very popular restaurant with lots of positive reviews. Wide selection of well prepared food at exceptionally good prices.
Close to city centre. Budget Hotel. Very good especially the breakfast.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
This restaurant is located in a shopping outlet in Urla, Cesme. It is fairly basic in terms of its decor and furniture but it offers a good choice of menu and traditional Turkish food. We stopped off for an evening meal and paid 65 Turkish Lira ( £12.70 ) for a meal for two which consisted of 2 x Kusbasi Kasarli Pide ( meat and cheese Turkish Pizza ) a good salad and Ayran ( buttermilk ).
I have to say that the Kusbasi Pide was one of the best I have had in Turkey for a long time. These guys really know how to cook. All in all a good experience with good service and friendly staff.
Uygulama Hotels are operated by the government on a commercial basis. They are used to train students wanting to start a career in the tourism sector and also frequented by teachers and civil servants. Many tour companies use them.
They offer a good alternative to mainstream hotels and are generally very well managed. The Bornova Uygulama Hotel in Izmir is situated within walking distance of the large IKEA outlet and Bornova Forum shopping mall ( 15 minute walk). It is housed within the confines of a High School so drive carefully when you are coming and going by vehicle.
There is ample parking near the hotel. Access for the disabled might be a bit tricky since although there is a ramp it is very long and steep. Once inside the hotel there is a spacious lobby and well maintained Reception area. The staff are friendly and efficient and you are soon on your way to your room.
The price we paid for a double room with breakfast for two was 140 Turkish Lira ( £23.52 ). This is exceptionally good value for money for the quality of the room that we got. The room was tastefully decorated in part wallpaper and paint. There is a fridge and Wi-Fi and a well equipped bathroom. There are no tea or coffee facilities and although the hotel does seem to offer drinks in the Reception area you are quite a distance from any shops if you just want something quickly.
The nearest place to eat or buy anything is the Bornova Forum. The breakfast here is very good. A great selection of cold continental breakfast but with boiled eggs or omlette style hot food too. A good selection of cheeses and tea or coffee available. The hotel is well run and clean. The beds are comfortable and you are pretty much guaranteed a good nights sleep here since there is not busy traffic outside to worry about.
The other advantage is that you are pretty near the outer ring road so if you are heading in and out of Izmir the location is good. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for the duration of your stay in Bornova, Izmir.
