In Turkey they have a thing called Halı Örtüsü or Carpet covers. Essentially they are large bed size cloth items of very good hardwearing quality. I suppose you can call them throw overs which can be used as picnic mats, seat covers, furniture protection whilst away for any extended periods and even as a bedspread.
In Turkey, halı örtüsü (carpet covers) are widely used to protect carpets from dirt, wear, spills, and fading while providing an easy-to-wash, removable layer that keeps the original carpet clean. They are especially popular in homes with children or pets and are commonly made from materials such as velvet (kadife), polar, or soft welsoft fabric, often with elastic edges so they fit snugly over the carpet.
